Born in Istanbul, Şebnem Keçeli grew up as the child of a creative mother and a traveler father. The culmination of her literature and art education evolved into sculptural forms that tell stories. Her fascination with the human nature allowed her to draw inspiration from their differences in life. What started as an interest in biology, philosophy, and society’s impact on humans became meaningful through her artworks. Keçeli focused on the dichotomy between organic, flowing forms and inorganic, angular forms. From marble to wood, polyester to metal, materials were meticulously selected that would embody her ideas.
